Relay For Life to Hold Annual Birthday Party Celebration

This Wednesday, Relay For Life of Penn State will be turning 10 and taking over the HUB for its birthday party celebration.

Relay For Life raises funds for The American Cancer Society, which is the “official sponsor of birthdays.” In honor of this slogan, Relay For Life of Penn State holds a birthday party themed event in the HUB each year to encourage students to get involved in Relay For Life to help “celebrate a world with more birthdays.”

This year’s event will include a merch sale, and Relay For Life captains will be selling and decorating luminaria for Relay weekend. There will also be a photo booth, a prize wheel, and free games at the tables on the first floor of the HUB. At noon, the Relay For Life Overall Committee will be cutting birthday cake and singing happy birthday in dedication to all cancer survivors. A survivor will also be sharing her story about her battle with cancer at 12:30pm.  The event will also include performances by Peace. Love. Lyrical., Ram Squad, and Singing Lions.

The event will be held in the HUB on this Wednesday, March 26 from 10am-3pm. There will be informational tables about Relay For Life on the ground floor of the HUB throughout the entirety of the event for those looking to get involved.

Relay For Life of Penn State 2014 currently has 123 teams registered and has already raised over $38,000. The year’s efforts will culminate in Relay Weekend, which will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2pm at Medlar Field.
