PayPal’s Shahid Khan to Host Workshop Sunday

Shahid Khan, PayPal’s Senior Manager of Innovation, is coming to Penn State to host a workshop on developing, refining, and sharing entrepreneurial ideas in the most effective manner. The event, which will take place Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 102 Thomas Building, will  focus on making students’ ideas “stick” when they are communicating their ideas to potential investors or clients in today’s ever-growing start-up world.

The self-described “Innovation Evangelist” is traveling from San Jose, Calif. for the workshop hosted by Innoblue. Khan generally runs this type of workshop for Fortune 500 companies, giving Penn State students the unique opportunity to learn how to better market themselves from a mainstay of Silicon Valley for free. Khan generally encourages participants to have an idea in mind before attending the workshop, in order to better hone in on one idea while there.

Students of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply as long as they have an idea that they want to execute, whether it be in the tech industry or even an idea for a non-profit. Students wishing to attend the event will need to apply for a seat due to high demand by giving a short statement on why they wish to attend. Those selected to attend will be notified on Friday for Sunday’s free event, which will include meals for participants along with the marketing workshop.
