Here Are the 5 Best and Quirkiest Bar Tour Themes
Last week, we asked you to tell us about your best bar tour themes. Here are some of the best and quirkiest ones we found:
The Phil Collins Bar Tour
The group that is going on the bar tour is: A random group of about 30 people.
They came up with the theme when: Two bar tour participants, Zach and Andrew, were driving and listening to the Tarzan soundtrack and “couldn’t get over the angelic vocals of Phil Collins.” From that experience stemmed the conception of their Phil Collins Super Fan Club and a 60-minute power hour dedicated to Phil Collins and Genesis. “We decided the best way to end our stay here at Penn State is to honor the greatest drummer who has ever graced our meaningless planet,” Zach said.
While on the bar tour, they: Plan to “have a lot of intense drum solos and [try] to figure out what the hell Sussudio means.”
The highlight of the bar tour: Will (likely) be walking like this to and from the bars.
The “PeteStrong” Bar Tour
The group that went on the bar tour was: Friends of a Penn Stater named Pete, who battled cancer and is now in remission.
They came up with the theme when: Pete’s friends decided to go on a bar tour and give him drinks to celebrate. “PeteStrong” was Pete’s motto during his battle with cancer.
While on the bar tour, they: Wore bright yellow shirts with Pete’s face on them.
The Mother/Daughter Bar Tour
The group that went on the bar tour: Was a group of close friends living in Beaver Terrace.
They came up with the theme when: They realized it would be “hilarious” to have their mothers come up for a bar tour.
While on the bar tour, they: Wore their t-shirts, which said “Beaver Terrace Bar Crawl 2014” on the front and, on the back, a beer mug/baby bottle hybrid as well as the slogan, “They taught us to walk, so we’re teaching them to crawl.”
The highlight of the bar tour: Was ending the night at the Gaff. “Other individuals at the bar circled around us and cheered for us while we took over the dance floor with our moms.”
The “Cat Crawl” Bar Tour
The group that went on the bar tour: Was a group of cat enthusiast friends.
They came up with the theme when: One of the bar tour participants, Kayla, spotted a tie-dye shirt with a flying cat on it. Though she couldn’t find the same shirt, she found a shirt with a “hipster cat” on it, and “hipster cat” stuck.
While on the bar tour, they: Acted like cats. Sometimes.
The highlight of the bar tour: Was being kicked out of one bar. (“They didn’t like cats, apparently.”)
The “Say ‘I Do!’ to Another Brew” Bar Tour
The group that is going on the bar tour is: Thirty friends of Penn State grad Rachel and her fiancé.
They came up with the theme when: Rachel and her fiancé — who met right before their final semester at Penn State — got engaged and decided to come back to “relive the fun.”
The highlight of the bar tour: Has yet to be determined, because it hasn’t happened yet, but the group is excited. “My fiancé and I have been getting texts all week from people who are excited to get back to Penn State to drink. We can’t wait!” Rachel said.
