THON Announces Important 2015 Dates

THON posted official dates for events within the 2014-15 fundraising season today, including canning weekends, the THON 5k, 1o0 Days ’til THON, and the Family Carnival.

Here they are:

  • Canning Weekend #1: October 3-5, 2014
  • THON 5k: October 18, 2014
  • Canning Weekend #2: November 7-9, 2014
  • 100 Days ’til THON Celebration: November 12, 2014
  • Family Carnival: November 16, 2014
  • Canning Weekend #3: December 5-7, 2014
  • THON Weekend: February 20-22, 2015

The fundraising window will officially open on September 19. As usual, the first two canning weekends will coincide with a bye and an away weekend of the football team (the second is when the Lions travel to Indiana).  The third canning weekend comes after the season.

While the first canning weekend is a week later than it has been in recent years, most likely because of the earlier Homecoming weekend, this could make weekends more lucrative for canners because they are more spread out. It’s also known that people tend to be more giving during the holiday season, so a December canning weekend should bring in even more money FTK.

My brain is not able to understand how a team of people supposedly proficient in this industry gathered, looked at this new mark, and said, “Yes, this will do!”
