Big Ten Announces 2014-2015 Hockey Schedule
The Big Ten announced the 2014-2015 men’s hockey schedule today, and it inclues a six-game homestand for the Nittany Lions from January to February.
Penn State will start the season at Michigan on Nov. 21 and 22 and will continue on the road the following weekend at Wisconsin. The team will play a Big Ten opponent in Hockey Valley for the first time against Ohio State on Jan. 9, playing Michigan State and Wisconsin at home before the homestand completes on Feb. 7. They then will alternate between home and road series for the rest of the season before finishing up at Minnesota the weekend of March 13. The Big Ten Tournament will culminate the year at Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena March 19-21.
In its first full year in the Big Ten, Penn State finished the season with a record of 8-26-2. The Nittany Lions’ poor record is a bit misleading, though — 11 games were decided by only one goal. The season was highlighted by three impressive wins over Michigan and a win over Ohio State, as well as a hard-fought tie with Michigan State.
