Penn State Basketball To Play Home-and-Home With George Washington
Men’s basketball announced today that it will play a home-and-home series with the George Washington Colonials, beginning Dec. 14 this season at the Bryce Jordan Center.
“We are excited to have a NCAA tournament team in George Washington coming to Happy Valley this upcoming season,” coach Patrick Chambers said in the press release. “Coach [Mike] Lonergan has done a great job, and their style of play will help us prepare for conference play.”
George Washington of the Atlantic-10 is hot right now, having posted its second-highest win total (24) ever in 2013-14 and making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007. George Washington is located in the nation’s capital and is coming off a third-place finish in the A-10 last year.
The Lions, meanwhile, suffered a disappointing 2013-14 campaign, bowing out of the CBI with a loss to Siena and finishing the season 16-18.
“Pat [Chambers] and his staff have done a great job improving the program at Penn State and we look forward to having another quality opponent from the Big Ten on our schedule for the next two years,” said GW coach Mike Lonergan.
The date for the game in Washington has not yet been announced.
