Otto’s To Start Construction on Upscale Restaurant and Distillery

Happy Valley will be adding a brand new distillery this winter, coming from one of its most well-established businesses.

Otto’s Pub and Brewery is set to begin construction of Barrel 21 Distillery and Dining, an upscale restaurant and distillery, on land across the street from its current restaurant and brewery, according to the Centre Daily Times. The restaurant will seat around 110 people, making it about half the size of Otto’s, for a more intimate dining experience. Barrel 21 will also be open less hours than its counterpart, adding to that intimacy.

The restaurant will offer a small menu consisting of mainly locally sourced products, similiar to Otto’s menu, which features products from around 40 local businesses. The distillery will sell its own alcohol, and distill liquors like rum, gin, and whiskey.

According to Patton Township zoning officer Ken Foder, the restaurant was originally a portion of the plans to construct Otto’s current location, so the project has been known for years with only minor changes to the site plan occurring. With the foundation possibly being poured next week, the restaurant is on tap to open in January, ready to add to the company’s legacy in Happy Valley.
