HUB’s New Food Court To Open For First Day of Classes
After shutting down for the summer, the HUB’s new food court will re-open on August 25 for the first day of classes with a fresh new look.
The additions of McAlister’s Deli and Jamba Juice won’t open until mid-September, but the Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Blue Burrito, Soup and Garden, and gelato shop/bakery Diversions will be ready to go by the time everyone returns to Happy Valley.
Penn State’s Patrick Mansell shot some photos of the new area:
According to David Gingher, the director of retail dining at the HUB quoted at Penn State News, seating will be limited at first while the rest of the $44.6 million expansion project finishes up. Several other areas of the HUB are going to follow suit — the HUB Bookstore will open in October, the atrium areas will finish in February 2015, and the entire project won’t be done until May 2015.
The HUB isn’t the only oft-traversed building that’ll debut some Welcome Week changes. Redifer Commons moved its commons desk to the ground floor and its computer lab to the top floor after being closed for the summer, and the buffet area was expanded to include a private dining room.
