Maryland-Penn State To Kick at Noon
After having all day to tailgate before the Ohio State game, Penn Staters will have to turn back the alarms for Saturday’s game against Maryland, which will kick at noon and be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
It’s the first time the Lions will host the Terrapins in Beaver Stadium since 1992. The press release calls Maryland a rival, but Penn State has a 35-1-1 record all-time against it in 37 meetings from 1917 to 1993. Maryland coach Randy Edsall tried to spark some animosity over the summer, saying “talk is cheap” in regard to James Franklin’s #dominatethestate mantra. Franklin was the wide receivers coach at Maryland from 2000-04 and offensive coordinator from 2008-10.
All-University Day and THON Day will also be celebrated during the game.
Penn State will try to avenge an incredibly heartbreaking double-overtime loss to Ohio State when it plays the Terps. Both teams need a win: Penn State (4-3, 1-3 B1G) is riding a three-game losing streak that has placed it a game behind Maryland (5-3, 2-2), which is coming off a blowout 52-7 loss at Wisconsin.
