DOTD: Penn State To Flip Special Coin in Honor of Lt. Michael Murphy
The story of Penn Stater Lt. Michael Murphy’s ultimate sacrifice is well-documented. The Veterans Memorial by the McAllister Building was dedicated to Murphy, and his tale is told in the popular movie “Lone Survivor.”
Now, Murphy will receive another token of appreciation from Penn State, albeit a smaller one. Penn State unveiled a special coin dedicated to Murphy that it will flip before this weekend’s Military Appreciation Game against Temple.

Penn State is planning other memorials for Military Appreciation Day, too. Penn State fans bought more than 5,000 tickets for military members through the “Seats for Soldiers” program. ROTC elite, active duty, Wounded Warriors and veterans will also be honored throughout the Penn State-Temple game.
