Men’s Soccer To Host Party for Selection Show

Despite a late-season swoon, there is still plenty of optimism surrounding the Penn State men’s soccer team.

Today at 1 p.m., the team will learn its College Cup (the NCAA tournament for soccer) fate, and will gather in the HUB with fans and food anticipating the result.

The selection show will also be streamed live on NCAA.com.

While a strong seed in the 48-team tournament seemed inevitable at one point, there is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the tournament. Hopefully, the selection committee considers Penn State’s entire body of work rather than just recent performance, as the Nittany Lions looked like a legitimate title contender in the first half of the season before faltering late.

Bowing out unceremoniously in the first round of the Big Ten tournament was certainly not the plan, but with newly-minted Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Connor Maloney up top, the Lions can pose a threat to any opponent they face.

Check back on Onward State to see who the team will play in the first round!
