Watch American Meat Documentary, Get Free Burrito

Expand your horizons, like your parents are always obnoxiously telling you. The Sustainable Agriculture Club will be screening the documentary, American Meat, on Wednesday, April 3, at 7:45 p.m in 101 Thomas.

The film examines American farming and meat production at a crossroads, and how farmers, as producers, are dealing with the present and future of meat production, from diverse angles like hog, poultry, and cattle.

And starting at 7 p.m., the first 100 people to show up get free Chipotle burritos.

Which makes it possible for even the most hipster of liberal arts students to forego the question of how the meat for the burrito was raised, in favor of asking if the burrito is still free if I ask for guacamole on it, or if I complicate the order by asking for peppers and onions instead of beans?

And seriously, educate yourself on the issue of how food gets from the animal to your plate — something that almost always gets lost in the shuffle and that you probably don’t think about on a daily basis. Chipotle is really an interesting choice, since they claim to serve meat that is more ethically gathered than traditional methods — keep track of how they stack up. But regardless, I find it hard to argue with a couple of hours of my time versus paying upwards of $8 for a burrito, especially if I want my precious, vital guacamole to be on it.

What else are you really doing on a Wednesday night, besides the schoolwork you need to distract yourself from?
