Power Ranking The 10 Best THON 2015 Line Dance Lyrics

We’ve seen our fair share of THON line dances. It seems as though each year, the line dance becomes more impressive, and the anticipation of hearing and learning it continues to grow. With this year’s line dance including many notable references and being particularly catchy, we decided to break down entire song and rank the 10 best lines.

10. Dreams grow in these small hours / make them real, be empowered!

Although it’s always the last line in the song, it’s still exciting to see how the the captains will incorporate the theme of the year into the line dance. “Empower The Dreamers” is a fantastic theme, and this line perfectly represents the hopes and wishes of the Four Diamonds families and the THON volunteers alike. THON has the power to shine a light upon the most deserving — the Four Diamonds children, our small dreamers with the largest hearts.

9. Bae, word of the year / Sia swings from chandeliers

Considering how “bae” THON is, it only makes sense for it to be included somewhere in the song. Also, the “1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, stretch” that follows the “Chandelier” reference is too perfect, and hints at the awesome dance break that follows only a few verses later.

8. Wait, what? Chipotle’s closed? / Let’s go to Primanti Bros.

Anytime we can talk about that time that Chipotle workers quit and the restaurant was closed for roughly six hours, I’m pretty happy about it. What a random, terrifying time in the lives of all Penn State students. And the recent opening of Primanti Bros., which has become a fast favorite of many, of course had to make a line dance appearance.

7. Crown yourself in Trivia Crack / Hurry up and play me back

Shoutout to the line dance writers for knowing that Trivia Crack has taken over my life, as well as practically this entire campus.

6. That BOOM BOOM atmosphere / Kicking cancer out of here

The fourth verse of the line dance is usually my favorite one, because it’s the one that looks inward and reflects on the Four Diamonds, the yearlong fundraising and awareness effort, and THON itself. I love anytime we talk about the ambience of the BJC during THON weekend, and the feistiness of beating cancer.

5. Genie, Doubtfire, Peter Pan / Robin’s off to Neverland

The perfect way to describe Robin Williams’s passing. No other explanation needed.

4. THON ’15 make some noise /  Nittany Lions, “We dem boyz”

This is the first line of the line dance, and “We dem boyz” not only reminds us of fall semester, where this song played nonstop during football games, but also inspires a sense of community among everyone.

3. T. Swift pay to play / Starbucks lovers? What’d she say?

This is the line dance just being super relatable and feeling the sentiments of basically every person who listened to “Blank Space.” She definitely said “Starbucks lovers,” I can’t be convinced otherwise.

2. Paint a face in the moon / Look closely and you’ll see yours, too

This line is simply well-written and creates a beautiful image. It describes the logo of this year’s THON, and connects the dancers directly with the Four Diamonds children. We all have the highest aspirations and dreams — this line reminds us how intertwined we all are with one another.

1. Barbour, Barron are on board / 409 wins restored!

This may seem like the obvious choice for best line, but it truly encompasses the energetic and optimistic feeling in the BJC, as well as sums up the excitement of the past several weeks of Penn State. When this verse came up in the BJC, the cheers were deafening — and the accompanying dance move, the signature pose of JoePa’s statue, only helps to emphasize the moment.
