Homecoming 2015 Theme Announced: “A Legacy To Shape The Future”

The Homecoming Executive Committee took to the THON stage before the Pep Rally on Saturday evening to announce the 2015 Homecoming Theme: “A Legacy To Shape The Future.”

“Revealing the theme at THON is exciting for us,” explained Lauren Ulsh, the Donor Relations Director. “It allows us to share this year’s purpose for the Penn State community with a group of passionate Penn Staters.”

Homecoming Week 2015 is slated for October 4-10, with the football game being on the 10th against Indiana in Beaver Stadium. It’s something of a return to normalcy for Homecoming, which last year had its first September edition since 1973. While Penn State wound up winning the Orange Bowl in that ’73 season, the 2014 edition of a September Homecoming was an absolute disaster — Northwestern handed Penn State its first loss of the season, in Beaver Stadium, in blow-out fashion, starting a four-game losing streak.

“In choosing a theme, the Executive Committee was able to create something that we want to share with all of Penn State,” said Terra Tomasic, the University Relations Director. “Spending multiple hours debating on a theme was tedious at the time, but has given us a fresh direction for Homecoming 2015 that hopefully gets everyone as excited as we are.”

Other information related to Homecoming, like the grand marshal and parade details, will be announced down the road. The logo will be revealed during the Blue-White Game on April 18.
