Celebrate Mike The Mailman Appreciation Day
As any Penn Stater knows, this campus is filled with tons of down-to-earth students, staff, and employees. Whether it’s your favorite professor or a friendly barista, Happy Valley is naturally brimming with happy people. But many can agree that one man’s noticeable charm and friendly nature helps him stand out from the rest: the beloved Mike the Mailman.
This incredibly positive man works right across from the HUB at the University Park Post Office. He’s upbeat, genuine, contagiously happy, and spreads positive vibes to anyone and everyone on a daily basis, showing us that life is what you make it.
If that isn’t enough, Mike’s good-natured and optimistic attitude has inspired the The Clown Nose Club to host an entire day dedicated to appreciating Mike. They’ve done so for the past two years, and the tradition will continue this Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m. at the post office.
Because Mike adds such character and warmth to University Park, every year the Penn State community makes an effort to give back and show how much we appreciate his consistent friendliness — and what better way than an entire day dedicated to him? The event’s description is pretty open-ended: simply “stop in to the campus post office (located across from the HUB, next to McAllister Building) and say hi to everyone’s favorite mailman, Mike,” so there’s no telling what activities the day will hold.
Additionally, as part of PS i (heart) U Day on Thursday, Mike will be in the HUB from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. helping students write thank you notes to loved ones.
On your way to class, make a point to stop by the post office across from the side entrance of the HUB and thank Mike the Mailman for all that he does. Be creative and bring him cookies, funny cards and notes, or anything else thoughtful to show your love for the best mailman around.
