Homecoming 2015 Logo Revealed

At half-time of the Blue-White game, Penn State fans were celebrating for a reason other than football; the Homecoming Committee revealed the logo for Homecoming 2015.

Homecoming

As every year, this design was created by a Penn State graphic design student. This year, the honor went to Sara Silversmith.

This year’s logo is undoubtedly unique, and is reminiscent of the abstract logo from last year. The theme “A Legacy To Shape The Future” was announced at THON. However, one of the more intersting aspects of the logo is the fact that the image is vertical. The Homecoming Committee has not chosen a vertical logo since 2008, instead preferring a horizontal approach.

Though I wasn’t a huge fan upon first seeing it, the image definitely grows on you. It’s actually quite cool, and the messy and doodle-like design is sure to catch people’s attention. The Lion’s hand holding a “No. 1” signal and posing as the 1 in 15 is a clever touch.

This is definitely an image you won’t get tired of seeing. Get prepared to see it all over campus and printed on memorabilia and t-shirts come October.

Homecoming Week 2015 will be held Oct. 4-10, with the football game set to punctuate the weekend on Oct. 10 against Indiana in Beaver Stadium.
