SPA Presents Iron & Wine For SPA LateNight

The Student Programming Association (SPA) announced Iron & Wine will perform as part of SPA LateNight on Friday, October 16 in Alumni Hall at 10 p.m. The event, like all others, will be free with a Penn State student I.D.

Iron & Wine, also known as Samuel Beam, released his first album in 2002 and has since released four others. His music, known for its acoustic guitar, banjo, and folksy vocals, has been most recently featured in his newest collaboration with Ben Bridwell in an album titled Sing Into My Mouth. The album features song covers of The Talking Heads, Bonnie Raitt, and more

Beam graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor’s of Arts and an MFA from Florida State University Film School. After teaching at Miami International University of Art & Design, his music attracted the attention of Subpop Records, and later went on tour with Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse. His song “Flightless Bird American Mouth has more than 3 million views on YouTube and was featured on the Twilight movie soundtrack.
