Basketball Student Section ‘Nittany Nation’ Rebrands As ‘Legion of Blue’

One day before the Penn State men’s basketball team gets the 2015-16 season underway, its student support section announced a big change to its organization. Formerly known as ‘Nittany Nation,’ the basketball student section rebranded as ‘Legion of Blue’ on Friday.

This announcement came days after the signing of the most talented recruiting class in Penn State men’s basketball history. With a change in players and atmosphere for the program, Legion of Blue looks to add to the excitement for the program by completely revamping. The announcement was made via video by Legion of Blue members.

“We’ve been working hard on re-branding the student section for months,” marketing officer Kristina Nauman said. “With the season opener around the corner, we’re finally ready to go live. ‘Nittany Nation’ has become associated with the Penn State sports community in general, so as the official student section for basketball, we wanted something synonymous with Penn State basketball. That’s where the idea behind Legion of Blue came from. With the new look and name, we want to strengthen our association with the team while bringing the same relentless energy to the BJC this season and for seasons to come.”

The student section will get its debut as ‘Legion of Blue’ tomorrow when the Penn State men’s basketball season tips off against VMI at 1:00 p.m.
