Alumni Interest Group’s Mosaic To Be THON’s First Permanent Display

Penn State’s campus is littered with monuments and memorials. Some are obvious, like the Penn State Veterans Plaza; some are so small you might not even notice them, like the plaque on the HUB lawn commemorating “those we lost along the way.” Now, THON’s alumni interest group is hoping to make the 46-hour dance marathon the subject of Penn State’s newest installment.

DMAIG (the Dance Marathon Alumni Interest group) introduced its newest fundraiser, the DMAIG Mosaic, last November. According to Mosaic Board Director Melanie Harris, the board is “an online interactive collage of pictures submitted by THON supporters.” THON lovers and Penn State alumni alike can buy a space on the mural for their own dance marathon photos to be included in the mural.

On November 11, DMAIG announced a formal deadline for photo submissions to the mural: February 21, 2016, which is the the last day of THON 2016. Once all of the photos are collected, DMAIG will compile all of the electronic submissions to create a physical mural in the HUB. According to Harris, the mural will be permanently displayed in the front window of the THON Store and will be THON’s first permanent display on campus.

If you want to grab a sneak peak of what the mural will look like, visit DMAIG’s website. There, you can also purchase a space for your own THON photo. The photo spaces will be on sale for $40 each until November 30. After that, the price returns to the original $55.
