Barron To Launch First-Ever Penn State President Blog

In an attempt to connect with a millennial student body, Penn State President Eric Barron will launch a blog to kick off the new semester on January 12.

Unlike the Insanity workout sharing its name, Barron said he will use his blog entitled “Digging Deeper” as “an outlet for me to roll up my sleeves and offer a deeper view of what’s happening at Penn State and beyond.”

The blog’s title stems from Barron’s history as a geologist, and he said it will provide another platform “to better tell the Penn State story” he sees every day. “I’m witnessing thrilling examples of our research prowess, witnessing inspiring efforts by our students in the classroom and beyond, and hearing touching stories about what this university means to so many people. I want readers to see what I see on a regular basis,” Barron said.

He plans to make several posts monthly that will highlight notable Penn State students, give the outside world a deeper look into the administrative decision-making processes, and share more of his daily happenings.

Look out for his upcoming posts on news.psu.edu, Headlines Issues via email, Penn State Today, and on various social media platforms.

“As the means for communication expand, leaders need to seize the opportunity to build connections,” Barron said. Welcome to the blogosphere, President Barron. Don’t read the comments.
