Update: Allen Street Abercrombie & Fitch Closes Its Doors

Update: (January 7, 2016):

After 15 years in State College, the Abercrombie & Fitch on South Allen Street closed its doors permanently over winter break.

The lease is $12,750 a month and is listed by Industrial-Commercial Realty LLC.

With the closing of Chili’sPhilly Pretzel, and now Abercrombie, South Allen is starting to look a little bare. At least we have Champs to look forward to in the coming months.

Original post (May 9, 2015):

It’s a sad day for South Allen Street.

The building that currently houses Abercrombie & Fitch is in search of a new tenant. According to the listing, the storefront is available for lease starting in December 2015. The lease is $12,750 a month and is listed by Industrial-Commercial Realty LLC.

Abercrombie opened its doors to moose lovers in 2000 and was the first store in the building. With 9,183 square feet available, there’s a whole host of possibilities to fill the space. The listing is on a national commercial real estate site, so perhaps another chain will open in its place.

A manager at the downtown location and national representatives would not comment on the situation. If you just enjoyed the store for the large pictures of half-naked people when you walked by, you won’t even miss them anymore. The rest of us will enjoy an Allen Street free of the brand-sensory smell that always exuded from its doors.
