Movin’ On 2016 Now Accepting Applications For Battle Of The Bands

Student bands and local groupies alike will be happy to hear that Movin’ On 2016 is fast approaching. In preparation for the event, Movin’ On is now accepting applications for its annual Battle of the Bands competition on April 1 in Alumni Hall. The winner will get a 30 minute slot to open for the upcoming Movin’ On on April 29.

To be eligible for the competition, at least one member of the band must be a current University Park undergraduate or graduate student. After applying, interested bands must submit samples of their original music (no recordings of song covers will be accepted, unfortunately) as well as press kits, videos, interviews, articles, and any other promotional material. The Movin’ On CORE committee will select eight bands to compete in the battle. These bands will be judged on originality, musicianship, audience participation, stage presentation, and overall performance.

After finishing second in 2014, Mute Cities won the Battle of the Bands last year. The group opened for Big Sean, Passion Pit, Atmosphere, Big Gigantic, and New Politics.

The application and the 2016 Rule Book can be found here. Applications close on February 28 at 5 p.m. E-mail [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
