Lara Spencer Hosts Penn State Sorority On ‘Good Morning America’
Members of Penn State’s Kappa Delta sorority appeared on “Good Morning America” in early January following the invitation of sister and host, Lara Spencer. Spencer was a member of Penn State’s class of 1991 as well as a member of Kappa Delta during her time at Penn State. The Kappa Delta sisters appeared along with the New York City branch of Penn State’s Alumni Association to help Spencer prepare her famous “Nittany Nachos,” her tailgating favorite.
The sisters appeared on the show in full Penn State blue and white, equipped with shakers and pompoms to demonstrate their pride. “It was really exciting being on stage and seeing how many people work behind the scenes to produce the show,” said current Penn State sophomore and Kappa Delta sister, Annika Hansen. “Lara Spencer is still really involved with the Penn State and Kappa Delta community so it was great to meet her. ABC even gave us two VIP tickets to raffle off for THON!”
Spencer continued to impress the audience with an overwhelming sense of honor for her alma mater. During the segment, Spencer reminisced on her days spent at Penn State sporting her own Penn State gear and leading several “We Are” chants. “I may be biased, but I don’t think there is a school out there with greater spirit than Penn State,” Spencer said. “We have overcome a lot and nothing gets us down. We are resilient. We are loyal. We Are.”
Spencer has made a major impact on the Penn State community both as a student and as an alumna. her time as a Nittany Lion, she became a nationally ranked diver and earned her bachelor of arts in broadcast journalism. Most recently, Spencer was honored as Penn State’s Homecoming Grand Marshal in 2014.
