Penn State Alumnus Michael Robinson To Host Inaugural Blue-White Benefit

It’s always great to see Penn State alumni give back to the community, but it’s especially cool when it’s a Super Bowl champion. Former Pro Bowl fullback and Penn State alumnus Michael Robinson will host the inaugural Blue-White Benefit for Excel to Excellence in State College on April 15, 2016. The event will be in the Club area in Pegula Ice Arena and will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The Blue-White Benefit will feature Robinson and other guests including former Penn State athletes, and proceeds will go towards his TEAM EXCEL program.

Robinson founded Excel to Excellence six years ago with the intention to focus on “education, character development, and fitness for young people.” The program started as a yearly football camp to build those traits, it soon blossomed into the “Team Excel” program. That remains one of the program’s highlights today, and it’s where professional athletes and volunteers focus on helping students academically.

“I started Excel to Excellence and our Team Excel program as a way to redefine success and show our young people that you don’t have to be a professional athlete to have a great life. Electricians, journalists, attorneys, plumbers are all successful careers,” Robinson said in a press release.

As a Nittany Lion, Robinson flourished on the field as he switched between playing quarterback and running back during his four-year collegiate career. His successes culminated in 2005, when he finished fifth in Heisman voting after leading Penn State to a Big Ten title and an Orange Bowl win. He was drafted by the 49ers the next year and won the Super Bowl with the Seahawks at the end of the 2013 season.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available for the Blue-White Benefit, where all of the proceeds from the event will benefit Excel to Excellence. You can purchase tickets here.
