Penn State Ranked One of The Most Fun Colleges By Business Insider

Is there anything more scientific than college ranking lists? Don’t answer that question, because Penn State was ranked as the eighth most fun college in the nation by Business Insider last month.

Using a combination of the Princeton Review’s yearly college rankings, Business Insider created a list of the 30 most fun colleges in the country. It then used the results from 12 different lists to determine the schools that made the cut. To create a more “accurate” list, the website used categories that showed “a strong social life, high student investment in athletics, lots of alcohol, and a high quality of life.”

Penn State ranked in the top 10 for “Lots of Beer,” “Students Pack the Stadiums,” and “Best Athletic Facilities,” but fell short when it came to the “Party Schools” and “Lots of Greek Life” categories. It beat out schools like Georgia, Wisconsin, and Vanderbilt and ranked third out of all Big Ten schools, but ultimately lost to Iowa and top-ranked Illinois.

Business Insider took note of Penn State’s booming bar scene and game day spirit, as well as the student body’s willingness to try different activities: “In addition to parties and bars, PSU students also enjoy attending comedy shows, trying new restaurants around campus, and seeing concerts at the Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State’s basketball arena,” it said.
