Penn State is almost assuredly done recruiting 2017 offensive linemen, as three-star tackle Desmond Holmes became Matt Limegrover’s fourth future ball of clay with his verbal to the Nittany Lions on Sunday.

The Springfield, Pa., (Cardinal O’Hara) standout held a reported 18 offers, but his decision came down to Penn State and Maryland. Holmes is considered the nation’s 97th-overall offensive tackle and the 16th-best prospect out of the Keystone State this cycle, according to 247Sports.
Holmes joins four-star guard C.J. Thorpe, three-star guard Michael Miranda, and three-star tackle Robert Martin along the offensive line for Penn State in its 2017 recruiting class, which is up to No. 21 in the country and fifth in the Big Ten with Holmes on board.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pounder camped for the coaching staff in mid-July and picked up his offer from the Nittany Lions a few weeks later. A recent visit this weekend was enough to seal the deal for Holmes, who canceled a scheduled trip to Pitt in order to make his decision. Holmes will most likely be in line for a redshirt upon his arrival in State College, as is the case with most offensive linemen James Franklin and his staff recruits.
