No. 12 Penn State Men’s Hockey Notches Two-Of-Five NCAA Plays Of The Week
Penn State hockey has had an NCAA Play of the Week every single week this season, and this week it has two.
The Nittany Lions’ sweep of Niagara bumped them up to a program-high No. 12 in the USCHO poll and featured goals that caused a stoic press box to gasp. One of those plays was topped off by Denis Smirnov, a freshman forward who’s currently No. 5 in the NCAA in scoring with 15 points (five goals, 10 assists). Defenseman Trevor Hamilton wrapped around the net and fed it to Smirnov with a no-look pass, then Smirnov capitalized off his own rebound for the goal. That play was number four in this week’s top five.
We can’t say we didn’t warn you about the next one:
Will Andrew Sturtz go seven days without making the NCAA Plays of the Week roundup this year?

Sturtz’s disgustingly athletic leap earned the No. 2 Play of the Week. We’d describe it, but you just need to see it for yourself. Shout out to the Roar Zone for the video:
Andrew Sturtz is decently athletic. https://t.co/rJWy8tEXgT
