Saquon Barkley To Be Featured On Sport Science

Penn State running back Saquon Barkley will put his athleticism on full display during an episode of Sport Science this fall.

The football program tweeted out shots of Barkley filming in the Sport Science lab Wednesday evening alongside host John Brenkus. Barkley is seen putting his vertical leap to the test and wearing full equipment with a No. 28 jersey. Here’s a clip of Jacksonville Jaguars draftee Leonard Fournette on the show this past spring.

Barkley will likely be put through a series of drills aimed at measuring his speed, agility, and trademark hurdling skills. A stellar sophomore campaign saw the Coplay, Pa., native finish with the fifth-most rushing yards in a season in Penn State history — 1,496. Barkley is well on his way to rewriting the program record books, and is already considered a favorite for the Heisman Trophy.

Barkley’s wheel-route touchdown in the 2016 Big Ten Championship is already on the short list of iconic plays in Penn State history.

NFL scouts have been salivating over Barkley’s potential for a while now. His 4.33 40-yard dash during winter testing, which would have been the fastest time among running backs at the 2017 NFL Combine, is the latest evidence that suggests Barkley will be a high first-round pick in next year’s draft.
