Live Blog: No. 4 Penn State vs. Northwestern

Greetings from Ryan Field, Penn State fans! James Franklin and his No. 4 Nittany Lions continue Big Ten play on the road against Northwestern live at noon on ABC. We’ll have updates throughout today’s clash on this page, including analysis, photos, tweets, and more. Here’s the media information you’ll need and here are our staff predictions.

Fourth Quarter

1:46 — The Wildcats break up the shutout.

Third Quarter

2:13 — Folks we’ve found Saquon Barkley.

3:42 — Northwestern’s top tackler Paddy Fisher was tossed from the game for his late hit on Trace McSorley, but the Nittany Lions have still struggled to move the ball — especially in the rushing game.

9:33 — Saquon Barkley: 0 yards off nine carries, but now he has a touchdown.

Halftime

Second Quarter

12:04 — The duo is back at it again — combining to make it 10-0

First Quarter

0:13 — The great field position and a fortunate pass interference call on Northwestern that negated a Trace McSorley interception leads to the first score of the game.

3:38 — Penn State forces a fumble to take over in Wildcat territory.

5:03 — Penn State goes three-and-out and Blake Gillikin boots it 39 yards to the Northwestern 45.

6:41 — Another HUGE defensive performance as Northwestern’s first-and-goal disintegrates thanks for heavy quarterback pressure and Amani Oruwariye’s third interception of the year.

11:19 — The Nittany Lions racked up a few first downs to get into Northwestern territory, but turned the ball over on downs at the 38-yard line after going for it on fourth-and-eight. Bold move to start the game for James Franklin and Co.

Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible.
