Penn State Football Releases Jersey Numbers For 2026 Season

Penn State football released jersey numbers for the newest members on the team roster after an update on the team website.

After the Nittany Lions hired Matt Campbell to be the program’s new head coach, they added a slew of transfers from the transfer portal and a new group of freshmen.

From the transfer portal, Penn State landed the commitment of 24 former Iowa State players, including quarterback Rocco Becht, who will be wearing No. 3 in the blue and white along with quarterback Alex Manske, who will wear No. 7. On offense, former Iowa State wide receiver Chase Sowell will wear No. 0. Former Cyclone Zay Robinson will wear No. 2, Brett Eskildsen will have No. 4, and Karon Brookins will don No. 8.

In the tight end group, Benjamin Brahmer will rock No. 18, and the other tight ends, Cooper Alexander and Gabe Burkle, will wear No. 80 and No. 84. Running back Carson Hansen will wear No. 21 as he is set to become Penn State’s new starting running back in the 2026 season.

On the offensive line, the Nittany Lions added four players from Iowa State, with Vaea Ikaoula, Will Tompkins, Trevor Buhr, and Kuol Kuol II. Ikaoula will wear No. 54, Tompkins will wear No. 66, Buhr will wear No. 70, and Kuol will wear No. 74.

On the defensive side of the ball, Penn State will have 10 former Iowa State players in the 2026 season. Defensive back Jamison Patton will don No. 3. Cornerbacks Jeremiah Cooper and Hunter Sowell will wear No. 4 and No. 29, respectively. In the linebacker room, Kooper Ebel will wear No. 8, Cael Brezina will wear No. 9, Caleb Bacon will wear No. 10, and John Klosterman will wear No. 22. The other defensive players are safety Marcus Neal Jr., who will don No. 31, defensive tackle Alijah Carnell with No. 56, and defensive end Ike Ezeogu with No. 88.

Along with the transfers from Iowa State, the Nittany Lions landed 16 more players in the portal. On offense, former Grambling State wide receiver Keith Jones Jr. will don No. 15. Former Ohio State running back James Peoples will wear No. 2. Former Christopher Newport quarterback Connor Barry will wear No. 17. As for the offensive line, Brock Riker will have No. 51, Tyshon Huff will wear No. 72, and Hunter Albright will have No. 76.

On defense, former Syracuse cornerback Ibn McDaniels will have No. 24, safety Omarion Davis will have No. 27, defensive end Alexander McPherson will wear No. 33, and linebacker Chris Fileppo will don No. 34. Penn State added four defensive tackles in Armstrong Nnodim, Siale Taupaki, Keanu Williams, and Dallas Vakalahi. Nnodim will have No. 91, Taupaki will have No. 92, Williams will have No. 97, and Vakalahi will have No. 98.

Along with offense and defense, the Nittany Lions added two players on special teams. Punter Nathan Tiyce will don No. 38, and kickoff specialist Cristiano Rosa will wear No. 95 to round all of the transfer additions.

Penn State has 11 freshmen for Campbell’s first season. On offense, quarterback Peyton Falzone will wear No. 14, running back D’Antae Sheffey will have No. 29, and wide receivers Amarion Jackson and Ben Whitver will wear No. 19 and No. 81, respectively. Mason Bandhauer is the only freshman on the offensive line. He will wear No. 56.

On defense, cornerbacks Josiah Zayas and Tyrell Chatman will have No. 17 and No. 20. Safeties Bryson Williams and Christian Askew will wear No. 28 and No. 30. Defensive end Jackson Ford will wear No. 89.

For returning players, wide receiver Koby Howard, defensive end Yvan Kemajou, cornerback Donte Nastasi, and offensive tackle Garrett Sexton had a number change. Howard switched from No. 3 to No. 6, Kemajou switched from No. 99 to No. 19, Nastasi switched from No. 81 to No. 16, and Sexton switched from No. 72 to No. 71, taking over former Penn State offensive lineman Vega Ioane’s number.
