#FirePatChambers Twitter Bots Take Momentary Respite
Penn State men’s basketball hasn’t always looked on top of its game this season, but things could be turning around.
Despite some hefty preseason hype, the Nittany Lions are just 5-5 in the Big Ten thus far in the season. However, after a huge road win at Ohio State followed up by a stomping of Rutgers, the Nittany Lions may have turned a corner – although it may be too early to say with certainty.
After losing to Minnesota and Northwestern in consecutive games, things really weren’t looking up for the Nittany Lions. They sat at 3-5 in the Big Ten and looked completely incapable of knocking off the stronger teams in the conference. Penn State’s underwhelming performance at times has drawn some attention to Pat Chambers in the Twitterverse as different accounts focused solely on the replacement of Coach Chambers have sprung up.
One such #FirePatChambers bot is @ChambersMustGo — an account that had an idea for firing Pat Chambers that is totally #FTK.
Can we fire Pat Chambers and donate the rest of his salary to the Thon?

ChambersFarewellTour joined Twitter in January of this year, first tweeting on January 12. Of course, the sole purpose of this bot’s existence is to get Chambers out of Happy Valley. It’s also very clear that this bot is not #Climbin’.

@ChambersMustGo sprung up around the same time as @chambersusedcar, an account with a similar purpose. The only real difference between the accounts is that this account constantly refers to Coach Chambers as the “Used Car Salesman.”
Another game and yet another meltdown. What's the Used Car Salesman's excuse for this loss? 3-2-1… collapse in progress.
— the Used Car Salesman (@chambersusedcar) January 20, 2018
We were asked to "celebrate" the Used Car Salesman's 100th win. We should give fair and equal time to recognizing his 116th loss.
— the Used Car Salesman (@chambersusedcar) January 16, 2018
After the crushing loss at Northwestern, ChambersFarewellTour and the Used Car Salesman weren’t the only Twitter accounts unhappy with the coach’s seeming inability to pull things together.
Honest to god my 12 y/o g'son's team would have made at least one shot in the last 10+ mins. I'm serious.

Later Chambers

These bots have had less to say recently, though. Penn State, with a few more key victories, could find a way into the Big Dance. This reality has quieted the detractors of Pat Chambers lately.
@ChambersMustGo most recent tweet attacked the Nittany Lions for their slow start to the game against Rutgers:
Pat Chambers really seems to have is team ready today. Following up the huge win at Ohio State with a pathetic start at home against bottom dweller Rutgers, losing 13-12 with 8:25 left first half
— ChambersFarewellTour (@ChambersMustGo) January 27, 2018
That was ChambersFarewellTour’s last tweet regarding the game, as Pat Chambers seems to have silenced this bot for the time being. The Used Car Salesman couldn’t muster all that much to hurl at Chambers after victories over the Buckeyes and the Scarlet Nights, instead claiming that Reaves has been the difference and claiming that Chambers is empty (?).
This is why the Used Car Salesman needs to go. The only game he actually had his team ready to play from the get-go was when he was able to fire up his team, trotting out Josh Reaves after his suspension ended,

Strip away the fluff and the sheen, he's an empty suit.

Whether or not these bots reactivate could be determined on Wednesday when the Nittany Lions travel to East Lansing to take on the No. 6 Michigan State Spartans. You can catch that game on the Big Ten Network.
