THON 2018 Debuts Snapchat Filter

THON released its snapchat filter for crowds gathering in the Bryce Jordan Center this weekend just in time for dancers standing.

The filter is located in the top left corner, reading “46 Hour Dance Marathon 2018.”

It’s certainly an improvement on last year, when THON kicked off without filter or a story due to an issue with getting designs approved.

However compared to other years in the past, the filter isn’t quite at the same level. A snapchat filter is a snapchat filter and it’s not the biggest deal, but THON is at a point where it can go just by that name without having to spell out “dance marathon.” Using a snapchat filter, you’re trying to show your friends where you are and what you’re doing, and to encapsulate that, all you really need are the words “THON,” “FTK,” and others signature to the event.

There is also the 6ABC-sponsored snapchat filter available that does just that, like it was last year, but the ABC company logo certainly feels a little strange for a giant charity event.

Steve Connelly

Unfortunately, former editor Steve Connelly has graduated. Where is he now? He might be doing something related to that PR degree he got in 2019. Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible.
