Red Car Ends Blue’s Streak To Tie ‘Car Race’ Series 2-2

The intensity is heating up in THON’s new, phenomenal event, “Car Race.” It pits the two sides of the Bryce Jordan Center against each other — two car banners, red and blue, start in the stands on opposite sides of the arena and race as spectators crowd-surfed them to the center Section 114 across from the main stage.

Red Car won the inaugural race early Saturday morning, but Blue Car redeemed itself with two close victories to take a 2-1 lead.

Red was done with losing after those defeats and absolutely slaughtered Blue to tie up the series once again. Blue Car struggled out of the gates, then went backwards at one point — there’s no coming back from that.

The first three events had been held during floor mopping sessions, but race four was the first to break that trend. The new event is sweeping with popularity in the BJC, so we’d bet on seeing at least a tiebreaker in the next couple of hours.

Unfortunately, former editor Steve Connelly has graduated. Where is he now? He might be doing something related to that PR degree he got in 2019. Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible.
