Smeal College Of Business To Host Annual Citizenship Conference

The Smeal College of Business and Penn State’e Net Impact chapter will host the fourth annual Smeal Citizenship Conference on Wednesday, April 4 at the Business Building.

Matt Carstens, senior vice president of the Land O’Lakes SUSTAIN business unit, will be the keynote speaker at the event, which is expected to host more than 1,500 freshman and sophomores from Smeal. Previous keynote speakers of this event include Lord Michael HastingsJames Gowen, and David Tulauskas.

Representatives from companies like BP, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Vanguard will also be at break-out sessions and networking tables throughout the day. Break-out sessions will be Q&A forums with a leader from each of the five corporations at the event.

“Students have the opportunity to learn about sustainability, integrity, and corporate social responsibility in the corporate world, from company reps from the sustainability department through the breakout sessions,” Penn State sophomore and SponsorUnited sponsorship scout Trey Williams said. “Students will also be able to partake in a career fair-styled event, which provides great experience for freshman and sophomores, as they are our primary audience.”

The event will kick off at 4 p.m. on April 4, and Carstens will deliver his keynote address from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Breakout sessions will last from 6:45 p.m. until the event concludes at 9 p.m.
