New ‘IMPACT 31’ Initiative Supports Student Athletes Through Levi Lamb Fund

It’s your chance to support the #Climb, or whatever other athletics hashtags you can find.

Penn State Athletics announced Tuesday the new IMPACT 31 challenge, which supports around 800 student athletes and 31 varsity programs through the Levi Lamb Fund. The Levi Lamb Fund supports grant-in-aid scholarships, operational support, and more for student athletes.

Funding for the Levi Lamb Fund can’t come from state appropriations, tuition, or student fees, so it needs to be raised from outside sources. All contributions will provide student athletes with academic support, nutrition, scholarships, and other resources.

Anyone interested in IMPACT 31 can make a gift and donate money, or post a picture on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with #IMPACT31.

“One of Penn State’s greatest points of difference has always been our strength in numbers,” Penn State Athletic Director Sandy Barbour, said in a release. “We’re asking our passionate and loyal alumni, students and fans to help spread the #IMPACT31 message on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We know there are more Penn Staters who share our passion for preparing students for a lifetime of impact, and social media can help us reach them.”

The first 2,000 photos posted on social media with the tag #IMPACT31 will be made into a mosaic featuring a large Penn State image. So, folks, show off those selfie skills. The final product will be displayed at the Blue-White Boardwalk at Fan Fest on Saturday before and during the Blue-White game.
