Penn State will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks with events across campus open to students and community members to honor the lives lost.

‘9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero’ Film Screening

The McCourtney Institute for Democracy will screen a documentary exploring how New Yorkers came together to shape the future of Ground Zero at the World Trade Center on Thursday, September 10, at 7 p.m. The film features structured dialogue and public participation to display its national significance and complex discussions.

The documentary will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by Penn State faculty members John Gastil, Ekaterina Haskins, and Brad Vivian. Folks looking to attend should head to the Carnegie Cinema, also known as 113 Carnegie Building.

Old Main Lawn 9/11 Memorial Service

The Penn State College Republicans and College Democrats will be placing 2,997 American Flags to honor each victim who lost their life during the 9/11 attacks. Community members are encouraged to help out.

Flags will be displayed until 11 a.m. Saturday. Folks can attend the memorial service on 9/11 at 5 p.m. on the Old Main Lawn.

9/11 Memorial Exhibition

The Stuckeman School at the College of Arts and Architecture will host an exhibition of work by architecture students to honor the lives of the 10 Penn State alumni who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center.

The exhibition is open through Friday, September 25, and is on the first floor of the Stuckeman Family Building. It will feature work by alumni who have designed memorial structures.
