Chris Hogan Signs With Carolina Panthers

Former Penn State men’s lacrosse star-turned-Super Bowl champion Chris Hogan signed with the Carolina Panthers. The wide receiver will move to Charlotte on a one-year deal after the Patriots opted not to re-sign him.

“This was a whole new experience for me and my family – I’ve never been an unrestricted free agent. I didn’t really come into it with too many expectations,” Hogan said. “We didn’t think it was going to last as long as it did, but I’ve been enjoying my family time. Getting some time to spend with the kids has been nice.”

“And then when I had the opportunity to come down here and sign with Carolina, I was just really excited about the opportunity and really grateful they gave me the opportunity to come down here. My family is excited and I’m excited.”

Hogan spent three seasons with the Patriots, racking up 2,193 yards and 16 touchdowns, including an insane 180-yard, two touchdown AFC Championship-winning game in 2017.

While Hogan played as an undergraduate for the Nittany Lions lacrosse team, and said he’s been asked about it “too many [times] to count,” he made his transition to football with a one-year stint at Monmouth in 2010.

After going undrafted, the New Jersey native ended up on three NFL practice squads before finally making a name for himself with the Buffalo Bills.
