How To Register To Vote In State College

If you’ve somehow navigated campus without being asked if you’re registered to vote in State College, let this post serve as a replacement. Are you registered to vote in State College?

If you’re not and plan to participate in the local elections this fall, don’t worry. It’s not too late, and it’s not too difficult either. The deadline to register for the November 5 State College Municipal Elections is October 7.

This year’s election includes State College’s Borough Council, School Board, and magisterial district justice

Although PSU Votes Week just ended, it’s still easier than ever to get registered. If you’ve never registered before, you can do so online via the Pennsylvania voter registration application or in person with someone who stops you on the street. And there’s no need to fret if you’re an out-of-state student or don’t have a Pennsylvania driver’s license. Your social security number will get the job done as well.

If you’re already registered in a different Pennsylvania county and want to switch to your local State College address, you can simply select the “Change of Address” option on the registration form. If you’re registered in a different state and want to switch to Pennsylvania, you would need to submit a new form to switch your registration status. Updating your registration status to your current address is important (and also eliminates the headaches caused by absentee ballots), so make sure you get everything straightened out before October 7.
