Micah Parsons, Journey Brown Named To 2020 Maxwell Award Watch List

Micah Parsons and Journey Brown have found themselves on yet another award watch list ahead of the 2020 season.

The pair were named to the Maxwell Award watch list Friday morning. The award is given annually to the best all-around player in college football.

The star linebacker and running back both had massive seasons for the Nittany Lions last year and were key pieces to the 11-2 campaign. Parsons finished the year with a team-leading 109 tackles along with five sacks, while Brown had 890 yards on the ground and 13 total touchdowns.

Both Nittany Lions have been included on several award watch lists so far this offseason. Parsons was named to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list Tuesday, and Brown has been mentioned on the Hornung and Doak Walker award watch lists.

Penn State has a storied history with the Maxwell Award. Sean Clifford was named to the watch list this past fall, while Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley have been named semifinalists. Seven Nittany Lions have won the award, including John Cappelletti, Kerry Collins, and Larry Johnson.

Brown and Parsons were named to the watch list among several other Big Ten stars. Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman, Wisconsin’s Jack Coan, and Michigan’s Nico Collins were mentioned on the list, among several others.
