Parks & Rec’s Jim O’Heir Gives Pre-Semester Pep Talk To Penn State Students

Leslie Knope put it best when she said, “We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work Jim O’Heir shouting out Penn State.”

Monday night, Penn State economics professor Jadrian Wooten tweeted a video of the “Parks And Recreation” star providing some good vibes and positivity for his students before they begin the fall semester.

O’Heir is best known for his lovable portrayal of Gary Larry Terry Barry Jerry Gergich on the hit NBC comedy. He’s also appeared on “3rd Rock From The Sun,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “Malcolm In The Middle.”

The clip, organized through video message service Cameo, opened with O’Heir referencing his Parks And Rec character’s many first names and wishing Wooten’s students luck in the upcoming semester. He kept it positive by saying that the craziness will pass and better times are ahead.

“This too shall pass, and then we will get back to our normal. But until then, we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do, and we’ve got to stay safe,” O’Heir said.

He called the coronavirus pandemic a “little blip in our history” and said it will be something people will tell their grandkids about. O’Heir poked fun at himself saying that at his age, it’s sooner rather than later.

O’Heir acknowledged that this semester is going to be different but that Wooten is rooting for his students. He ended the video in classic Penn State fashion with a hearty “We Are!”

There’s truly nothing like some pre-semester motivation from Gary Jerry Gergich, folks.
