Downtown State College’s Best Penn State Face Masks

Ever since the coronavirus pandemic took over our lives a few months ago, wearing face masks has become a part of everyone’s daily routine.

With Penn State’s recently announced “Mask Up Or Pack Up” campaign, as well as State College’s new mask-wearing requirements, more folks are on the hunt for good-looking masks than ever. Whether you’re searching for a simple option or perhaps something more unique, the borough’s many shops and stores are ready to meet your needs.

Basic Navy Mask — Family Clothesline

Starting off our Penn State mask selections is this nice, basic, navy blue mask. This is a sample mask, so I did do some poking and prodding just to really feel this mask’s vibes. I liked it because it is made with a light, moisture-wicking material with lining on the inside for some additional protection. A dependable closet essential, one could say.

Basic White Mask — Lion’s Pride

Coming right after our basic navy option, we have the basic white option. I wasn’t able to study this one as much. However, it brought back a familiar memory to me — the Penn State White Out. With this option, that classic White Out feeling can be relived every time you leave your dorm, apartment, or house. Maybe it’ll help you cope with fall sports’ postponement, too.

Happy Valley Masks — The Student Bookstore

We have the honor of living in the happiest of valleys here in State College, so let’s flex that, folks! The Student Bookstore has two great options right here. Up top, you can find just the option for those who enjoy a more modest look. If you are looking to add a stylish flair to your face mask, I suggest going with the bottom choice. Who could say no to that beautiful Happy Valley sunset?

Neck Gaiter: Family Clothesline

This seems to be what all the kids are wearing these days…or at least Penn State student-athletes. I can’t blame them, though, as this is my favorite pick as well.

Gaiters are made completely from a light, moisture-wicking material. Their thin layers increase breathability but are a major reason some believe they’re less effective than a traditional face mask. Remember, though: Some protection is always better than no protection.

Penn State Mask Bundle: Lion & Cub

There’s truly no such thing as having too many face masks. This value bundle can be found at Lion and Cub. It does include a pocket for a filter, and, according to the sticker on the front, the manufacturer is donating a portion of proceeds to Feeding America. By buying two face masks, you can keep an extra in your purse, backpack, or car for those times when you inevitably forget your mask at home (We’ve all done it).

Personalized Face Mask: Lion’s Pride

Ever wanted to terrify strangers on the street using a blown-up image of your own face? Well, you’re in luck.

I saved the best for last, folks. This is…special. For a cool $20, you can have the best of the best when it comes to face mask fashion. Think about the opportunities this mask brings. Need a selfie for the ‘gram? Put your mask on. Someone just asked the stupidest question in your one in-person class? They won’t be able to see your look of disappointment. Plus, I think we could all use a smile these days.
