Former Colgate Punter Barney Amor Transfers To Penn State

Penn State football has added a new punter to its program.

Former Colgate punter Barney Amor announced via Twitter than he is transferring to James Franklin’s program as a post-graduate transfer.

Amor will use his final two seasons of eligibility with the Nittany Lions after spending the previous three seasons with Colgate.

He hails from Gilly, Switzerland and made his collegiate debut in 2019 against Villanova.

Amor went on to start all 12 games for the Raiders last season and punted the ball 63 times for an average of 42.1 yards per punt. Additionally, 17 of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard line, as well as 11 of them going for 50 or more yards. He was named second-team All-Patriot League by Phil Steele due to his impressive season.

Coincidentally enough, Amor’s 2019 punting average of 42.1 is just a decimal point less than former Nittany Lion punter Blake Gillikin’s mark of 42.2.

Penn State’s punter situation had appeared unclear after Gillikin’s departure this offseason. Currently, long-range kicker/punter Jordan Stout is listed as the top punter on the depth chart.
