State College Cafes, Shops Offering National Coffee Day Deals

Coffee lovers, rejoice! It’s your favorite day of the year. Well, it should be.

September 29 is National Coffee Day in the United States, and with it comes a slew of deals in Happy Valley.

The holiday was created to promote fair trade coffee, local coffee shops, and to bring coffee fanatics together. Make sure to visit your favorite cafe Tuesday to take advantage of discounted or even free cups of Joe.

Dunkin’ Donuts

Although Dunkin’ certainly isn’t a “local” coffee shop, it’s still locally owned and operated. Tuesday, it’s offering a free medium iced or hot coffee with the purchase of any other item. If you find yourself craving a donut or breakfast sandwich, stop by Dunkin’ and get a free coffee as well.

Duck Donuts

Duck Donuts, which is located in Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza on Fraser Street, is having a deal just like Dunkin’s. With any in-store purchase, you can get a free hot or iced coffee. But this coffee can be any size, so if you want to go big or go home, go to Duck Donuts.

Rothrock Coffee

Rothrock isn’t located directly in downtown, but a short trip down South Atherton street is certainly worth it. Rothrock is one of only a few shops in Happy Valley that roasts its own coffee, so it’s fresher and tastier than its competition. Tuesday through Thursday, October 1 you can stop by Rothrock to pick up a 20-ounce cold brew for just $2.

Rothrock also noted it’s announcing new coffees and menu items this week, so it may be worth a trip to try its cold brew at a discounted price.

Sheetz

Sorry, Wawa fans. Sheetz is actually running a pretty nice deal Tuesday. If you have the free Sheetz app, you can order yourself a complimentary cold brew. This applies to any size, any flavor, and time of the day on the holiday.

Saint’s Cafe

Saint’s Cafe is a small, homey cafe located downtown on Beaver Ave. Today, it’s adding caramel flavoring to any coffee for free and giving out complimentary travel mugs with the purchase of Saint’s Blend beans. Saint’s is a great place to hang out and get some work done so if you’re craving caramel, it may be the place to be today.

Crust & Crumb Cafe

Crust & Crumb Cafe is a new coffee shop and bakery on Beaver Ave, which is adored by our staff. Between 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, you can get a 12-ounce drip coffee for just $1. The cafe is offering its All Day Dark Roast and Morning Blend as a part of this deal.

The Creamery

Penn State’s Berkey Creamery made sure to get in on the coffee fun, too. Between Thursday, October 1 and Friday, October 9, you can pick up a cup of Creamery coffee for just $.99. This applies to any size, so if you’re in the area it’s definitely worth checking out.
