Penn State Football Ranked No. 9 In AP Top 25 Poll

Penn State football stayed put at No. 9 in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll.

Despite key top-ten losses, the Nittany Lions manage to sit at No. 9 for the second consecutive week. This past Saturday, No. 4 Florida lost by three points to No. 21 Texas A&M, and top-ranked Clemson dominated No. 7 Miami.

Ohio State (No. 6), Wisconsin (No. 16), Michigan (No. 19), and Minnesota (No. 24) are still the only Big Ten squads to join Penn State in the poll.

The Nittany Lions didn’t move in this week ‘s USA Today’s Coaches Poll either. Penn State still sits at No. 8 in that ranking, while it opened at No. 7. Clemson is also the top-ranked team in that poll, while Ohio State (No. 6), Wisconsin (No. 15), Michigan (No. 19), and Minnesota (No. 25) are the other Big Ten teams ranked.

While upsets and big wins continue to shake up the college football world outside of the Big Ten, the conference is now less than two weeks away from starting its delayed season. Some of the biggest week one matchups include a ranked battle between Michigan and Minnesota, along with an interesting contest in Ohio State and Nebraska.

James Franklin’s squad will kick off its season in Bloomington against Indiana on October 24. A start time and broadcast designation have yet to be announced for the Nittany Lions’ season-opener.
