Fans Shocked & Frustrated Following Pat Chambers’ Resignation
Penn State men’s basketball coach Pat Chambers officially resigned from the team Wednesday night.
After a nine-year tenure in Happy Valley, Chambers will leave the team following an internal investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct. The investigation came in response to former guard Rasir Bolton’s allegations of Chambers’ racially insensitive comments over the summer, which led to his eventual transfer.
Last season, Chambers’ squad posted its best season in years and was poised to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time during his tenure.
Naturally, some Penn Staters on Twitter were shocked and frustrated by the unexpected move.
Years of progress towards a Tourney birth are down the drain now. Back to rebuild mode after the 2020-21 season

To say this is shocking is an understatement. Pat had a pretty long leash to get the program off the ground in Happy Valley, and last season felt like a turning point.

Pat Chambers just spent 10 years building this flaming tire fire into something resembling a competitive Division I program and they gave him the boot a month before tip-off. There better be a good reason for his “resignation”

This really sucks. Coronavirus sucks. Penn State basketball was finally on its way up. I honestly got more hyped for basketball games last year than I did football. I was even more excited for March Madness than usual. This man never had a real chance. https://t.co/CGvEDg1phC

Some, on the other hand, aren’t too upset to see the former head coach depart.
Because we haven’t had enough toxic white male behavior exposed today.

However, Chambers has made an impact on many in the community and that won’t be forgotten.
THANK YOU, @Coach_Chambers

Pat has done so much for this University and for the State College community. It has been such a pleasure to get to know the Chambers family over the past few summers. Wishing them all the best on what comes next! ? https://t.co/fxWzS2uAsF
