Lady Lions Release 2020-21 Schedule

Penn State women’s basketball announced its full season schedule Monday. The Lady Lions will play 23 games, 20 of which are against Big Ten teams.

Penn State will have a tough conference slate. Five teams in the Big Ten received Top 25 rankings in the AP preseason poll, tied for the most of any conference with the SEC and Pac-12.

Carolyn Kieger’s team will get things going on Wednesday, November 25 against Coppin State. The non-conference schedule will be complete after the next week, when Penn State faces St. Francis (November 30) and Rhode Island (December 3). All three games will be played at the Bryce Jordan Center.

The Lady Lions will turn their focus to conference play beginning on December 20 when they host Purdue. Following its Big Ten opener, Penn State will take its first road trip of the year to Ann Arbor to face Michigan on December 23.

Penn State returns home to face Maryland, the highest-ranked team on the Nittany Lions’ slate, on New Year’s Eve before a very busy January. The start of the month includes a road game at Ohio State (January 4), at home to Indiana (January 7), and back on the road against Minnesota (January 10), the team that eliminated the Lady Lions from the Big Ten tournament last March.

After a break during the midweek, Penn State turns its attention to Northwestern, whom it will host on Sunday, January 17. The Lady Lions will then head to Piscataway to face Rutgers (January 21) before heading back home to rematch Minnesota (January 25).

Kieger’s squad will take their first multi-game stint away from home beginning at the end of January. The quick stint away from Happy Valley will see the Lady Lions face Illinois (January 28) and Purdue (January 31) before a return to the Bryce Jordan Center to play Nebraska (February 4) and Wisconsin (February 7).

Penn State will continue its schedule with a trip to Bloomington to face the Indiana Hoosiers on February 10. On February 13, the Nittany Lions will meet Michigan State at home. The Spartans are the only Big Ten team Penn State defeated last season.

The Lady Lions will take a brief road trip late in the season when they face Iowa (February 18) and Nebraska (February 21). Penn State will return home for Ohio State (February 24) and Rutgers (February 28). The contest against the Scarlet Knights will be senior night.

Penn State will make one last road trip to College Park to face Maryland. The contest is set for either March 5 or 6 and will close the regular-season slate. The conference season will culminate with the Big Ten tournament, which is scheduled from March 9 through 13.

There are still opportunities for the Lady Lions to continue scheduling non-conference games in December, as the current schedule is subject to change. While most game-day information is unavailable thus far, the season opener against Coppin State is set for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and will be streamed on BTN+.
