Big Dean’s Hot Chicken To Open In Downtown State College

A new restaurant will add to State College’s ever-growing chicken scene, according to a few signs spotted downtown.

It appears Big Dean’s Hot Chicken will open at 208 W. College Ave. in the former location of Qdoba Mexican Eats, which closed last November.

According to a message on a poster located inside the restaurant’s window, Big Dean’s aims to serve food inspired by the “deep south” — plus an added spin from a chef who’s gained experience all around the country.

Big Dean’s hasn’t posted an opening date or any information at all, really. Its Instagram page is blank and its website isn’t currently operational. Perhaps the restaurant will begin advertising itself more as the year goes on.

Onward State wasn’t able to reach Big Dean’s for comment on its restaurant or opening date.

Although there’s much about Big Dean’s we don’t know, we do know it’ll be hiring. About a week ago, it posted a job opening for an “organized and goal-oriented” restaurant general manager.

We’ll update this post with more information as it becomes available.
