Offensive Tackle Ryan Wills Commits To Penn State As Preferred Walk-On

Glenside, Pennsylvania native Ryan Wills is headed to Happy Valley.

Penn State football offered the offensive tackle as a preferred walk-on run-on earlier this month, and Wills made it official by committing to the Nittany Lions Wednesday morning.

Willis played his high school ball at LaSalle College High School just outside of Philadelphia. Coming in at 6’4″ and 275 pounds, he received scholarship offers from Kent State and Maryland, among others. 247Sports has Wills ranked as a two-star prospect and the No. 62 player in Pennsylvania.

The Nittany Lions currently have several young offensive tackles on their roster, including Bryce Effener, Caedan Wallace, and Rasheed Walker. Phil Trautwein only has one scholarship tackle committed to the class of 2021 in Landon Tengwall, however, so Wills could provide some valuable depth for the group.

After no surprises on National Signing Day earlier this month, James Franklin added 15 scholarship players to his recruiting class of 2021. Along with highly recruited players such as Tengwall and Christian Veilleux, the Nittany Lions do have a deep group of run-on players.

Wills now joins a crew that includes the likes of transfer wide receiver Winston Eubanks, punter/kicker Gabe Nwosu, and tight end Ben Knapp.
