Penn State Men’s Hockey Is Back With The Uncomfortable GIFs
Although the coronavirus pandemic has presented countless changes to our day-to-day lives, one thing hasn’t changed: Penn State men’s hockey hurling…unique…GIFs of its players our way.
Every season, the team floods our timelines with new GIFs of both familiar stars and wide-eyed newcomers, typically following exciting plays or timely goals. However, they’re not the typical in-game clips you’d probably expect to see.
While they’ve stopped publishing the players’ bedroom eyes (not that we didn’t appreciate Max Sauvé’s smolder or Cole Hults’ kiss and wink,) we still get to see some, albeit awkward, GIFs of Nittany Lions every gameday.
No smoldering here. Instead, Connor MacEachern is opting to celebrate his goal by dancing like…someone from Brooklin, Ontario definitely would? It’s clear MacEachern definitely has moves, just not off the ice.
Well…it’s safe to say there’s nothing sexy about this Aarne Talvitie GIF. I almost prefer Nate Sucese’s exaggerated winking. The chest pat on its own isn’t too bad, but when combined with the pointing and pained facial expression, it makes for an interesting sight. I guess the stereotype about Finns being cold rings true in this case.
Christian Sarlo is more Clark Kent than Superman (and not the Henry Cavill iteration) in this GIF. But, the true freshman easily is Superman on the ice, especially considering his outstanding performance against Michigan State on January 15.
Freshman forward Kevin Wall is not only tearing up the ice, but also the dance floor, apparently. His moves are significantly better than MacEachern’s.
I think Wall definitely has his groove down and looks like he’s having a good time (and I’d really like to know what song is being played to make him dance like that).
This is like Talvitie’s but less threatening. While the chest hit is significantly more aggressive, Tim Doherty’s smile throughout and shoulder pop definitely make up for it.
Do you think they play music in the background for the players to dance to while making these? Regardless of what the GIFs look like every year, they definitely increase our enjoyment of the game, and it seems (for the most part) the team has a fun time making them.
Keep up the fantastic work, social media manager! We appreciate you.
