Penn State Adds 205 Cases To COVID-19 Dashboard

Penn State reported 205 more coronavirus cases among University Park students and employees this week, according to the university’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

Since Friday, January 22, the university has administered 2,466 tests to students and 282 to employees, according to the dashboard. One hundred and eighty-eight students and 17 employees tested positive.

Following the update, Penn State’s total positivity rate for the semester jumped from 3.4% to 4.9%. About 7.7% of tests returned positive results over the last seven days.

Thirty-four students are currently in quarantine or isolation at Eastview Terrace. Penn State is using 9% of its 400 available rooms.

So far, Penn State has reported 168 positives out of 7,445 COVID-19 tests through its mandated pre-arrival testing for the spring semester.

The dashboard also incorporates figures from student-athlete testing and any tests taken by those who remained on campus over winter break.

Penn State plans on updating the newly unveiled dashboard three times a week throughout the semester on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The university said testing data is added to the dashboard once results are received.

New features on the dashboard include an “All Campuses” button that shows testing statistics for Penn State’s entire network, calculations for positivity rates, and “enhanced” quarantine and isolation data.
